Once upon a time, there was a hardworking farmer.
He lived in a quiet little village and worked diligently on his fields every day.
However, one day, his life took a drastic turn.
A venomous snake sneaked into the farmer's house and bit his beloved son, killing him.
The farmer was overwhelmed with grief. He grabbed an axe and stormed outside to the snake's hole filled with anger.
As soon as the snake came out of the hole, he was ready to chop it down with the axe to avenge his son.
Before long, the snake slithered out of the hole.
The farmer saw it and swung his axe at the snake immediately.
But instead of hitting the snake, he split a rock beside the hole in half.
Upon seeing this outcome, the farmer started worrying about potential consequences and decided to reconcile with the snake.
He said to the snake, "I know there is great hatred between us, but I hope we can live in peace."
But the snake replied, "Every time I see the rock you split in half, I cannot feel any goodwill towards you; just as when you see your son's grave, you will not forgive me."
This story teaches us that deep hatred is hard to resolve.
We should learn to cherish peace and avoid creating hatred whenever possible because hatred brings more pain and misfortune.
