但是，这些投降的官兵们仍然很担心，因为他们曾经和刘秀是敌人，他们害怕刘秀最终会杀害自己。
刘秀知道他们的担忧，所以他让将领们回去带领他们原来的部队，而他自己只带很少的随从在各营之间巡视。
投降的官兵们看到刘秀对他们没有任何戒备，还非常信任他们，他们说：“萧王把他的诚心都放到我们的心里了，我们怎么能不拼死报答他呢！”
从此以后，投降的官兵们都安心地服从了刘秀。
这个故事后来被人们引申出一个成语，叫做“推心置腹”，用来比喻真心诚意地对待别人。

Then Liu Xiu went north to attack a powerful army called the Copper Horse Army.
He also defeated many other separatist forces, and the defeated armies surrendered one after another.
Liu Xiu incorporated these surrendered armies into his own troops and assigned official positions to their former leaders.
However, these surrendered soldiers were still very worried because they had once been enemies with Liu Xiu, and they feared that he would eventually kill them.
Liu Xiu knew their concerns, so he let the commanders go back to lead their original troops, while he himself only took a few attendants to patrol among the camps.
The surrendered soldiers saw that Liu Xiu had no guard against them and trusted them very much. They said, 'Marquis Xiao has put his sincerity into our hearts. How can we not risk our lives to repay him?'
From then on, the surrendered soldiers all obeyed Liu Xiu with peace of mind.
This story later gave rise to an idiom, called 'to be frank and open-hearted', which is used to比喻 being sincere and treating others well.
