Long, long ago, the gods lived on the beautiful Mount Olympus.
Among them, the most powerful god was Zeus, the god of thunder.
He wielded a spear of lightning and controlled the sky and the weather.
One day, Poseidon, the god of the sea, grew dissatisfied with Zeus's rule. He believed that as he governed the oceans, he was equally powerful and should be the leader of the gods.
Thus, a fierce war between the gods broke out.
Poseidon summoned a giant sea monster and launched an attack on Mount Olympus.
Zeus, however, countered the monster's assault with his lightning spear.
Their battle shook the entire world, causing the earth to split and the seas to churn.
Seeing this spectacle, the other gods joined the fight.
Some sided with Zeus, while others supported Poseidon.
The war grew more intense, seemingly without end.
But then, at that moment, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, proposed a suggestion.
She suggested that the gods choose a fair judge to decide who the true leader should be.
The gods agreed unanimously and ultimately chose Artemis, the moon goddess, as the judge.
After deep contemplation, Artemis declared Zeus as the winner.
She believed that although Poseidon was powerful, Zeus was more just and selfless, making him a better fit to lead the gods.
The war of the gods finally ended, and peace was restored among them.
They celebrated this outcome together and pledged to live in harmony and avoid conflicts in the future.
From that time on, whenever people looked up at the night sky and saw the bright moonlight, they would remember that fateful night and the fair moon goddess, Artemis.
