Once upon a time, there was a carpenter named George.
He was particularly skilled in carving and the wooden statues he made were lifelike.
One day, he carved a statue of Hermes out of wood and planned to sell it at the market.
People at the market liked to buy small trinkets to decorate their homes, so George went to the market with confidence carrying his work.
However, despite waiting for a long time, no one came to inquire about the price.
George began to worry. He shouted loudly, hoping to attract people's attention: "Come and take a look! I have a blessed and wealth-bringing statue for sale here!"
He hoped this would arouse everyone's interest.
At this moment, a middle-aged man walked over to George and said, "Friend, since this statue in your hand can bring good luck and wealth, why don't you keep it and enjoy these benefits yourself? Instead of selling it?"
George thought for a moment and replied, "I want to gain benefits now, but the benefits of this statue may take some time to show up."
This story tells us that some people, in pursuit of immediate interests, can even ignore sacred things.
They only value immediate gains and losses, forgetting to respect and revere those things worthy of our respect.
