On a vast grassland, there was a shepherd who took care of a flock of snowy white sheep.
One day, a wolf quietly followed the herd of sheep, but it did not harm any of them.
At first, the shepherd was very afraid of the wolf. He stared at it closely, fearing that it would suddenly attack the herd.
However, the wolf just walked quietly and did not show any signs of malice.
Slowly, the shepherd began to relax his guard against the wolf, and even started to think of it as a kind wolf, just like his sheepdog.
One day, the shepherd needed to go into town on business. He decided to leave the herd in the care of the wolf.
The wolf happily accepted the task, but as soon as the shepherd left, the wolf revealed its true nature and killed most of the sheep.
When the shepherd returned, he saw the messy herd and felt extremely regretful and guilty.
He said with a heavy heart, "I was so foolish. Why did I entrust the herd to the wolf?"
This story tells us that we should not easily trust those who are not worthy of our trust.
If we entrust important things to such people, then we may suffer losses.
So, we should learn to distinguish who is a true friend and who is an enemy pretending to be friendly.
