A long time ago, there was a king.
He asked his officials to find some blind men and let them touch an elephant.
Then the king asked them what they thought the elephant looked like.
The first blind man touched the elephant's tusk and said, 'The elephant is like a large radish.'
The second blind man touched the elephant's ear and said, 'The elephant is like a large shovel.'
The third blind man touched the elephant's head and said, 'The elephant is like a big rock.'
The fourth blind man touched the elephant's trunk and said, 'The elephant is like a large pestle.'
The fifth blind man touched the elephant's foot and said, 'The elephant is like a wooden mortar.'
The sixth blind man touched the elephant's back and said, 'The elephant is like a bed.'
The seventh blind man touched the elephant's belly and said, 'The elephant is like a jar.'
Because each person touched a different part of the elephant, their opinions of the elephant were also different.
In fact, they all touched a part of the elephant, but no one touched the whole elephant.
This story tells us that sometimes we can only see a part of something, just like the blind men touching the elephant.
If we think we know everything just by seeing a part of it, it's like being lost.
We need to learn to look at things comprehensively to truly understand the truth.
Later, people called this story 'Blind Men and the Elephant' to比喻 partial understanding and not knowing the truth.
