In the Spring and Autumn period, the royal family of the Zhou Dynasty was declining. The feudal lords were all vying for dominance.
Confucius saw this situation and was deeply worried.
He decided to write a book to express his thoughts, hoping to set the world back on track.
This book was called 'The Spring and Autumn Annals'.
In the book, Confucius detailed the political, diplomatic, and alliance activities between the various feudal states at that time, as well as natural disasters such as droughts and floods.
What was Confucius's goal?
He wanted people to know that society should be orderly and that people should follow rules and respect each other.
He hoped that through his book, people would understand this point and restore society to its normal state.
Later, the phrase 'to set things right in chaotic times and return them to their proper order' became known as 'setting things right'.
This idiom means to remove chaotic phenomena and get things back on the right track.
This was Confucius's purpose in writing 'The Spring and Autumn Annals', and it is something we still need to strive for today.
