In winter, a farmer named Li Si was working in the fields.
He saw a small snake lying on the ground, frozen stiff. It wriggled pitifully, as if it were about to die.
Li Si looked at the little snake with sadness in his heart.
He picked up the little snake and gently held it in his arms, using his own body heat to warm it up.
Before long, the little snake gradually regained its vitality. It woke up and began to wriggle its body.
However, when the little snake fully recovered, it suddenly bit Li Si.
Li Si cried out in pain and fell to the ground.
His wound quickly swelled up, and his face turned pale. He knew these were symptoms of snake venom.
Li Si struggled to get up. He said to the little snake, "I saved you, why did you bite me?"
The little snake didn't answer, just stared at him coldly.
Li Si shook his head helplessly. He said, "Alas, I deserve it! I showed mercy to an evil person, and this is the retribution I should receive."
After saying these words, Li Si fell to the ground and never woke up again.
People found him, saw the little snake in his arms and the wound on his body, and all felt sorry for him.
This story tells us that even if we are kind to others, we must not forget their potential for evil.
We should learn to protect ourselves and not easily trust strangers.
