战国时代，齐国有位大夫叫邹忌。
他身材高大，仪表堂堂，非常英俊。
一天早上，他穿戴整齐，照镜子时问他的妻子：“我和城北的徐公相比，谁更英俊？”
他的妻子回答说：“你比徐公英俊多了。”
其实，徐公是齐国有名的美男子。
邹忌并不相信自己真的比徐公英俊，于是他又去问他的妾，妾也说他比徐公英俊。
隔天，有个客人来访，邹忌又问他同样的问题，客人也说他比徐公英俊。
然而，当徐公亲自来到邹忌家的时候，邹忌仔细观察后发现，自己确实不如徐公英俊。
晚上，邹忌躺在床上思考这个问题。
他意识到，妻子偏袒他，妾惧怕他，客人有求于他，所以他们都说他比徐公英俊。
他由此想到，齐国的君主——齐威王也可能被周围的人所蒙蔽。
于是，邹忌上朝去见齐威王，告诉他自己确实不如徐公英俊，并解释了为什么他的妻子、妾和客人都说他比徐公英俊。
他还告诉齐威王，因为齐国领土辽阔，宫里的嫔妃、左右近臣以及国内的人民都可能对齐威王有所求，因此齐威王也很可能被蒙蔽。
齐威王听后，认为邹忌说得很有道理。
于是，他下令：任何能够指出他的错误的人，都会得到奖赏；任何能够上奏章劝谏他的人，也会得到奖赏；任何能够在公众面前批评朝政的人，只要消息传到他耳中，也会得到奖赏。
这个命令颁布后，许多大臣都来进谏，一时之间，朝廷里人潮涌动，就像市场一样热闹。
几个月后，仍然有许多人来上奏规谏。
一年以后，即使大家想进言，却已经没有什么可劝谏的了。
燕、赵、韩、魏四国听说这件事后，都派人到齐国来朝见。
这个故事告诉我们，人们应该虚心接受他人的意见。
同时，成语“门庭若市”就是用来形容来往的人群众多，非常热闹拥挤。
During the Warring States period, there was an official named Zou Ji in the state of Qi.
He was tall and handsome, very charming.
One morning, he dressed neatly and asked his wife while looking in the mirror, "Who is more handsome, me or Mr. Xu from the north of the city?"
His wife replied, "You are much more handsome than Mr. Xu."
In fact, Mr. Xu was a famous handsome man in the state of Qi.
Zou Ji didn't believe that he was really more handsome than Mr. Xu, so he asked his concubine again, and she also said that he was more handsome than Mr. Xu.
The next day, a guest came to visit, and Zou Ji asked him the same question, and the guest also said that he was more handsome than Mr. Xu.
However, when Mr. Xu personally came to Zou Ji's house, after careful observation, Zou Ji realized that he was indeed not as handsome as Mr. Xu.
That night, Zou Ji lay on the bed pondering this problem.
He realized that his wife favored him, his concubine feared him, and the guest had something to ask of him, so they all said he was more handsome than Mr. Xu.
He thus thought that the king of the state of Qi, King Wei of Qi, might also be deceived by those around him.
So Zou Ji went to see King Wei of Qi and told him that he was indeed not as handsome as Mr. Xu and explained why his wife, concubine, and guest all said he was more handsome than Mr. Xu.
He also told King Wei of Qi that because the territory of the state of Qi was vast, the palace maids, close officials, and people of the country might have something to ask of him, so King Wei of Qi was also likely to be deceived.
King Wei of Qi listened and thought that what Zou Ji said made sense.
So he ordered: Anyone who could point out his mistake would be rewarded; anyone who could present a memorial to advise him would also be rewarded; anyone who could criticize the government affairs in public, as long as the news reached his ears, would also be rewarded.
After this order was issued, many ministers came to offer advice, and for a time, the court was bustling with people like a market.
Several months later, there were still many people coming to present their advice.
A year later, even if everyone wanted to give advice, there was nothing left to advise.
When the states of Yan, Zhao, Han, and Wei heard about this, they all sent envoys to pay homage to the state of Qi.
This story tells us that people should humbly accept others' opinions.
At the same time, the idiom 'the courtyard is bustling with people' is used to describe a place where there are many people coming and going, very lively and crowded.
