小明是个喜欢探索自然的孩子，一天他来到河边玩耍。
他发现河水是从山上流下来的，而湖水却是静止的。
他感到很奇怪，就问妈妈这是为什么。
妈妈告诉他：“河水是流动的，因为它受到地势的影响，从高处流向低处。而湖水则是静止的，因为它是被周围的地形围住的。”
小明听后若有所思，他又来到湖边，仔细观察湖面。
他看到湖面上有许多小波纹，他知道这是因为风吹动了湖面。
他又问妈妈：“那为什么湖水不会像河水一样流动呢？”
妈妈解释道：“因为湖水被四周的陆地包围，没有足够的动力让它流动。但是，如果在湖的一端有一个出口，那么湖水就会像河水一样流出。”
小明听了妈妈的话，觉得很神奇。
他决定自己动手做一个实验。
他在家里的盆里装满了水，然后用手指堵住一边的出口。
他发现水位越来越高，最后都溢出来了。
他明白了，这就是湖水不能流动的原因。

Johnny is a child who loves to explore nature. One day, he came to play by the river.
He found that the river water was flowing down from the mountains, while the lake water was still.
He felt very curious, so he asked his mom why this was.
Mom told him, 'The river water flows because it is influenced by the terrain, flowing from high to low. The lake water, on the other hand, is still because it is surrounded by the surrounding landforms.'
Johnny thoughtfully listened to his mom and went to the lakeside to observe the lake surface carefully.
He saw many ripples on the lake surface, knowing that this was caused by the wind blowing over the lake.
He asked his mom again, 'Why doesn't lake water flow like river water?'
Mom explained, 'Because the lake water is surrounded by land on all sides, it doesn't have enough force to flow. But, if there is an outlet at one end of the lake, then the lake water will flow out like a river.'
After hearing his mom's words, Johnny felt amazed.
He decided to conduct an experiment himself.
He filled a basin at home with water, then blocked one end with his finger.
He found that the water level kept rising, eventually overflowing.
He understood that this was the reason why lake water couldn't flow.
Johnny was very happy and felt like he had learned a lot.
He decided that he would explore nature more and learn more scientific knowledge in the future.
