On a beautiful grassland, there was a shepherd named Alexander.
Every day, he would take his herd of cows to graze in the woods.
One day, an unfortunate thing happened - a little calf went missing from the herd.
Alexander was very worried about the safety of the little calf. He searched everywhere in the woods, but he couldn't find it.
He felt very sad, so he vowed to the sky, 'If I can find the thief who stole my little calf, I will offer a sheep to the guardian spirit of the woods as thanks.'
After a while, Alexander came to a small hill.
Looking down, he was surprised to see a lion eating his little calf!
He was so frightened that he trembled all over. He quickly raised his hands to pray to the sky, 'I just vowed that if I could find the thief who stole my little calf, I would offer a sheep to the guardian spirit of the woods. Now that I have found the thief, I am willing to lose that little calf and offer another big cow, as long as I can leave this lion safely.'
This story tells us that some people may forget their vows when facing powerful enemies.
But we should be brave like Alexander and face difficulties, doing our best to protect our property and lives.
